The One Where I Introduce Myself

I watched a youtube video today and one line really resonated:

‘Do one thing every day that scares you.’

Congratulations on being the lucky reader of that risk. My first ever blog post!

So who am I? I suppose I’m what you would call a typical millenial woman, late 20’s, ‘corporate sell out’, pseudo-extrovert,etc. etc. although I am proudly bucking that city living trend by living out in the countryside and LOVING it. Praise the lord for home-working!

I live with the most lovely man who I am lucky enough to have called my partner for the last couple of years and we have recently welcomed a kitten into our household – we’re very much in the excitement phase right now, so watch this space…

Gin, wine & all round food lover, from a 9 course tasting menu through to a naughty Mcdonalds 20 nuggets sharer (sharer!? Ha!), you name it I’ll be there enjoying it with you.

And why am I doing this? I should admit upfront, I am a self proclaimed expert in absolutely f*** all. Lots of fads come and go but writing has always been cathartic to me. It helps me digest my thoughts, especially when I’m feeling low.

I’m sure I’m not alone in admitting I’ve had a severe case of the post Christmas blues this year. And I’ve realised, work and social life aside, I need to get myself a bloody hobby!

I am absolutely not an expert in mindfulness – quite the opposite. In fact my easily distracted nature means I cannot even claim to have managed to complete one single self help book cover to cover…

What I am is an ordinary girl, still trying to transition from that awkward ‘adulting’ phase to a fully fledged adult in what seems to be an ever increasingly pressured world.

I plan to use this as a creative outlet to share some of those struggles both big and small and I hope that by sharing my rambling ups and downs I will be able to meet a network of like-minded people (or even just one person for that matter!)

After all, some things are just easier to write down than say out loud aren’t they?

I’m going to end by sharing the video that lead to me doing my very first blog today, after years (yes YEARS!!) of umming and ahhhing…enjoy 🙂

  3. This seems like a really great idea, love your really honest, funny writing style.

I find writing things down really therapeutic too, so naturally have about 20 different semi-empty journals that have the first 7 pages written on. Just like you said, it works especially well when I’m upset or in a bit of a downer mood.

Where did you discover “Everybody loves suncream”? I’ve known it for a while and it always strikes me as a little trippy. Has some great advice though.

Thanks for the interesting read, can’t wait to read more!

  4. I love this post. I think other than the age we have a lot in common too. The Gin, wine and food. Add Baileys and chocolate to that too. Again not very good at most things but love to write. I am not expecting the Pulitzer Award however, writing makes me happy, lets me process, lets me grieve and over come and sometimes lets me vent. Love your style of writing. Expecting great things from this space
